Cosmetic Porcelain Veneers
The most effective makeovers are those that require the least amount of alterations to your smile. We design our cosmetic treatment plans to preserve as much healthy, natural tooth structure as possible, and porcelain veneers are often the best and least invasive smile improvement option. The thin, custom-made shells of porcelain closely mimic the front surfaces of healthy, blemish-free teeth, and can be bonded to the fronts of teeth that exhibit a number of different cosmetic issues.
Should You Consider Veneers?
Porcelain veneers, informally referred to as the “instant smile makeover,” are favored for their ability to mimic healthy teeth as well as their ability to address several different issues at once. However, they may not always be the best option, especially if your smile can be improved with a simpler procedure, such as teeth-whitening. Porcelain veneers are most effective for addressing issues such as;
- Severe teeth stains
- Internal tooth discoloration (the staining is below the tooth’s surface)
- Chipped or lightly cracked teeth
- Spaces between teeth
- Misshapen teeth, or teeth that are too small
- Excessive tooth wear
- Teeth that are slightly crooked
Caring for Porcelain Veneers
Once your veneers are permanently bonded to your teeth, you must care for them properly to maintain their appearance and integrity. Fortunately, caring for your veneers is as simple as brushing at least twice a day using a minimally-abrasive toothpaste and flossing daily, the same as with your natural teeth. You will also need to attend a dental exam and cleaning appointment at least once every six months to make sure that your teeth and gums remain strong, healthy, and free of tooth decay and gum disease.
