Quiz Questions: True or False?

  1. True or False: The amount of teeth you will have as an adult, assuming your smile develops according to plan and you have not had any teeth removed, should be 32 teeth.
  2. True or False: One of the most common reasons you will find that upon counting, you don’t have 32 teeth in your mouth, is the fact that you may have had your wisdom teeth removed (or you still need to because they are impacted and threatening your oral health or they never developed).
  3. True or False: In general, you have teeth in your mouth as an essential part of your facial structure, to help you chew, and to help you speak.

Quiz Answers

  1. True. In general, an adult smile includes 32 teeth. However, in some instances, it’s too many for patients who suffer from overcrowding, which is why the removal of permanent teeth as part of an orthodontic plan is not uncommon.
  2. True. Of your 32 teeth, four of them are wisdom teeth. These are the teeth that show up when you’re in your late teens or early 20s. You don’t need them, so if they never show up or you have them removed (they are often problematic), it doesn’t affect your oral health.
  3. True. They are functional, completing your facial structure, while allowing you to form words and to eat.
